Description
The western highland style of Oban Single Malts is epitomized by is gentle sweetness and surprising richness of palate and finish. The peatines of the islands it faces, across the Firth of Lom, is softened by the influences of the highlands at its back.
The DISTILLERS EDITION brings new dimensions of taste exploration to the enjoyment of this Single Malt Whisky. The Master Distiller selects a small number of casks for double maturing in Montilla fino Seasoned American Oak, which is chosen to complement the unique character of the Malt Whisky. The marriage of casks and whisky has always been a traditional tool of the distillers craft to bring a new depth and complexity to great Malt whiskies.
To underline its sea-laced flavors, the Master Distiller of Oban has chosen Montilla Fino. This dry, delicate cask beautifully enhances the distinctively graceful style of ban.
The whisky beautifully balances smooth creaminess with hints of salty sea breeze. Notes of grape from the dry Montilla Fino grow with time into waves of malt and white pepper, finishing with a beautifully long sweet smoke in the classic Oban style. I used Oban Distiller’s Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky over the weekend and liked it more than I expected. It was crisp, with a nice touch of pepper and spice. Good bottle for the price.
