River Kelvin Rye provides an exciting exploration of what one extra year of aging can do to an already delightful Straight Rye Whiskey. Building on the success of batch 7, which was a 7 Year Indiana Straight Rye Whiskey, Four Gate Whiskey Company decided to offer an 8-year-old version of the same original whiskey.
The idea was to allow enthusiasts and patrons to discover firsthand the transformative effect of that additional year of maturation. This latest release of River Kelvin Rye has spent 8 years maturing, maintaining the same 95% rye, 5% malted barley mash bill, and it packs a powerful punch at 113 proof.

This bottle had a good, honest flavor. Four Gate River Kelvin Rye Batch 13 Whiskey was not harsh, and the spice plus citrus notes made it feel a little more special than a basic pick. I would keep this around for a casual night at home.
